Below is Michael' s biography and information about his work.

Michael McDyer (b.1957) is a painter who loves color and art for art' s sake. His subject is always the beauty of human form, nature, or color. He uses texture and light, to paint atmospheric landscapes communicating countryside scenes rich in form, or when simply creating expressive abstract paintings.

His highly evocative landscapes emerge from the Impressionist tradition and capture soothing and magical dappled light. These compositions, although taken directly from nature, border on the abstract, and are rich in texture, spatial ambiguities and fluid movement. Recognizable elements appear and disappear within areas of pure abstraction. Inspired by emotional responses to particular situations and events, these paintings work on several levels, and pull together visual stimulation, emotional response, and symbolic content.

His expressive abstract paintings play with multiple layers of color and form. Many of these works feature swathes of intense color that flow and blend freely beneath the surface, seducing the viewer with extreme aesthetic pleasure.

Michael was born in Miami, Florida, and has lived in the New York metropolitan area his entire adult life. He is inspired by the diverse landscapes of the northeast, particularly those found throughout New England. He has studied at the Art Students League, School of Visual Arts and The New School. In addition to painting, he loves to draw and is an avid photographer. He began sculpting recently, and is currently working on several pieces.

He has presented his work in solo exhibitions in New York City, Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale. On occasion his art has been commissioned, most recently for a cancer center on Long Island and at the Drew Patrick Spa. His paintings are held in several private collections as well as the corporate collections of American Express, Chase, and Brooklyn College.
